4 Days Nairobi National Park and Amboseli National Park Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi Arrival and Nairobi National Park Safari

On the first day, you arrive in Nairobi and are met at the airport or picked up from your hotel by a professional safari driver-guide. After a short briefing, you proceed directly to Nairobi National Park, which is uniquely located just a few kilometers from the city center. The morning game drive takes you through open grass plains and acacia bush, with the Nairobi skyline visible in the background. Wildlife commonly seen includes rhinos, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras and numerous bird species. After the game drive, you exit the park and have lunch at a restaurant in the city or at your hotel. In the afternoon, you may visit optional attractions such as the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage or the Giraffe Centre, depending on time and interest. You spend the evening at leisure and overnight at a hotel in Nairobi.

Day 2: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park

On the second day, you depart Nairobi early in the morning after breakfast and begin the drive to Amboseli National Park via Emali and Oloitokitok. The journey takes approximately five to six hours and offers scenic views of the Kenyan countryside and Maasai land. You arrive in Amboseli around midday and enter the park with a short game drive en route to your lodge or camp. Lunch is served at the lodge, followed by a brief rest. In the late afternoon, you head out for a game drive in Amboseli National Park, which is famous for its large elephant herds and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days. You explore the swamps and open plains where elephants, buffaloes, wildebeest and giraffes are commonly found. In the evening, you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Full Day in Amboseli National Park

The third day is dedicated entirely to wildlife viewing in Amboseli National Park. You start with an early morning game drive shortly after sunrise, when animals are most active and the light is ideal for photography. This is the best time to capture elephants walking across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. After the game drive, you return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation. Later in the morning, you head out again to explore different areas of the park, including the observation hill and permanent swamps that attract wildlife throughout the year. Lunch is taken at the lodge, followed by a rest period during the heat of the day. In the afternoon, you enjoy another game drive, with the option of visiting a nearby Maasai village at an additional cost to learn about local culture and traditions. You return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Amboseli to Nairobi and Departure

On the final day, you enjoy an early morning game drive in Amboseli National Park before breakfast, giving you one last opportunity to see wildlife and enjoy the peaceful morning atmosphere. After the game drive, you return to the lodge for breakfast, check out and begin the journey back to Nairobi. The drive takes approximately five to six hours, with lunch served en route or upon arrival in Nairobi. You are dropped off at your hotel or transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your Nairobi National Park and Amboseli National Park safari.
