2 Days Tsavo East National Park & Taita hill National Reserve(Saltlick Lodge)
Day 1: Mombasa to Tsavo East National Park and Salt Lick Lodge
On the first day, you depart from your hotel in Mombasa early in the morning and drive along the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway towards Tsavo East National Park. The journey takes approximately three to four hours. Upon arrival at the park through the main gate, you begin a morning game drive as you explore the vast red-earth plains that Tsavo East is famous for. Wildlife commonly seen includes red elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and a wide variety of bird species. You visit key areas such as the Galana River and Aruba Dam, where animals often gather to drink water. Around midday, you exit Tsavo East and drive to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, arriving at Salt Lick Safari Lodge in time for lunch. After lunch, you relax at the lodge while watching animals visit the waterhole below the lodge. In the late afternoon, you enjoy an evening game drive within the sanctuary, focusing on wildlife activity as temperatures cool. You return to Salt Lick Lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Salt Lick Wildlife Sanctuary to Mombasa
On the second day, you start with an early morning game drive in the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, taking advantage of the calm morning hours when animals are most active. This is a good time to spot elephants, lions, antelopes and birds in the soft morning light. After the game drive, you return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. You then begin the journey back towards Mombasa, with the option of a short game drive en route if time allows. You arrive back in Mombasa in the afternoon, where you are dropped off at your hotel or beach resort, marking the end of your Tsavo East and Salt Lick safari.
